Working to preserve the integrity of the relationship between First Nations and the land
The Environment Team advocates for the recognition of First Nations’ inherent and treaty rights so that they are respected by federal and provincial governments seeking to expedite development. We support First Nations’ self-determination over decisions in their territories, which includes First Nations’ self-determination over critical minerals and mining strategies, and self-determination over protected areas and an increase in First Nations-protected and conserved areas. Ensuring the integrity of First Nations’ lands, habitats and ecosystems, and their relationships to those lands, guides our work.
